Day Three (tuesday May-29)

Tuesday:

We decided to walk around Temple Bar to get our bearings and passed a place called Elephant and Castle. The food looked good on the menu so we headed in for some lunch. Riley had the Club Sandwich and I had a burger with fries. I know, not very Irish-like but they enjoy a good burger! It was delicious. While eating we struck up a conversation with an older couple next to us. They were from Sydney, Australia so we were able to chat about their hometown. They travel alot and told us about their trips to Paris and London.

During the conversation, they told us that the restaurant we were in was well-known and that was why it was so crowded. RIley and I had never heard about it and we had arrived before there was a line. The rest of our stay, we noticed that there was usually a line out the door for patrons! Lucky us!

After eating, we decided to go see a castle. We were able to quickly get to Dalkney Castle by using the DART rail system. This is a MARTA type system that actually can take you to places around the city. After a short walk from the DART station, we walked through a quaint town and arrived at the castle.

The castle was beautiful and the tour was fun. We were the last tour of the day so we got to go at a slower pace. The had actors that impersonated the "owner" of the castle back in the 1600's and also a servant and guard. It was so realistically done in their persononas, that the actors would ask us why we were clothed the way we were. And what my camera was. On the roof, the guard would ignore all buildings that were not part of the original land. Riley had asked about the lighthouse and the guard asked "what is a lighthouse" and he did not "see" the lighthouse in the distant. It was a lot of fun and what a beautiful day.

For dinner, we decided to stay close to the hotel and ate at a restaurant across the street called Zaytoon, an Indian Restaurant. We noticed that we could either eat at pubs or other nationality style restaurants. Since pubs can be noisy and crowded especially after 5pm, we tended to go for the restaurants instead.
