Day Five (Thursday May-31)

Thursday:

We started out at a local shop for a bagel and hot chocolate for me and tea for Riley. Our first stop was to Trinity College. We arrived about 15 minutes before the next tour so I was able to get a lot of photos before it got started. We had an interesting tour guide...the typical pompous frat guy that usually gets it first in most horror flicks! LOL! He graduated last year from Trinity College and is going for his law degree at another college.

But the tour was fun and interesting. The college is actually no longer affiliated with any religion. The main starter of the college did not want women to be admitted and said "Women will only be admitted over my dead body". The queen sent him a message that he HAD to admit women. So he wrote a letter back saying that he would comply with his hand but not with his heart. Then he promptly died! LOL! Now out of the 15,000 students, 60% are women.

After the tour of the college, we went to see the book of Kells, or actually HALF the book of Kells. Someone had the bright idea to divide the book into 4 parts for the 4 gospels. So at all times, 2 books are getting "cleaned" and 2 are on display. They of course do not allow photos...you have to BUY photos of the book...oh well.

We had a tour planned at 2pm so we headed over to O'Connell street and ate at a cafe that was close to where our tour started. Riley had vegetable soup and sandwich. I had a chicken sandwich and fries. Also, a cube of chocolate

Our tour took us through the south coast to a Malahide Castle. It is a huge castle with most of the furnishings still intact. Again...no photos on the inside allowed. Really annoying. So we have A LOT of photos of the outside. Beautiful grounds.

When we got back to the city, we saw that Pirates of the Caribbean was playing so we went to see it at the Savoy. Riley says it is a famous theater and it was a LOT bigger of a movie theater than i have ever seen. The movie was good. Not as good as 1 & 2 but it was still good.

We ate dinner at Sherry's Bistro since everything seemed to be closed already. They were closing soon so we felt a little rushed and just quickly ate.

It had been a long day.
