Day SiX (Friday June - 1)
Friday:
Today we got our rental car. It is so cute and blue! When we pulled up to Avis in a taxi, i saw the car and hoped we could get it. And without me saying anything, we did! So now, Ireland has to deal with my driving! LOL! It was not as difficult as I thought it would be and I starting to get the hang of it.
So we started our trek to Waterford. At 1:30, we decided to stop for some lunch. We saw a sign for the Marriott and figured that they would have something to eat. Little did we know that we would have to travel down this narrow road to get there! But once we did...it was worth it. It is this huge hotel with apartments in the middle of nowhere. The theme of the hotel was "Druids" so everything was celtic and nature in theme. It is mostly a spa/golf hotel since there is nothing else around the area to do anything.
We ate in the bar area, which is one of the nicest bars we have seen! Riley had a BLT and I had a chicken panini. Plus, a delicious dessert!
We finally left the hotel and started back on our journey to Waterford. On the way there, we got stuck in some traffic in a few towns so it was after 6pm when we went past Waterford which was already closed. So we went onwards to Cork and then to Blarney. The scenes were beautiful and Riley took a lot of landscape photos. We finally arrived at the Blarney Castle Inn around 7:30pm. The Inn is older but gorgeous. The room is huge for a hotel room.
We ate downstairs in the hotel restaurant. Riley had salmon and I had chicken with angel hair pasta. Very tasty! Then they brought up our dessert to our room. I had an apple tart and riley had cheese and crackers.
